Keratin Supplements | Hair Growth Formula Pills | Side Effects
Keratin is a popular supplement for hair, skin, and fingernails, though there is little evidence to suggest that taking Keratin supplements can stop hair loss or stimulate hair or nail growth. Keratin supplements are taken to support healthy hair, skin and nails. However, supplements do have the potential to cause side effects.
These are the common side effects of Keratin:
- Keratin supplements may lead to excess protein in the body called proteinuria.
- Too much protein in the body means the kidneys have to work harder to metabolize it and kidneys eventually fail.
- When the body makes too much keratin, or ingests too much keratin. it’s known as a condition called hyperkeratosis. Hyperkeratosis may manifest as rough, thick, dry skin or produce a coarse texture in the hair.
- keratin can also cause stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea
- Muscle cramping.
