Increased IgM:
increase in IgM titers in the blood of the sign of the acute inflammatory
- intrauterine infection in newborns;
- acute and chronic purulent infections, especially
gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract; - collagen – rheumatoid arthritis;
- acute and chronic liver disease (hepatitis, cirrhosis);
- enteropathy;
- intake chlorpromazine;
- parasitic diseases;
- Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia;
- asymptomatic IgM monoclonal gammopathy;
- presence of cold agglutinins;
- multiple myeloma (IgM – type).
Decreased IgM:
acquired deficiency:
- tsitostatiticheskaya and radiotherapy;
- state after splenectomy;
- protein loss in gastroenteropathy, burns;
- lymphoma.
congenital deficiency:
- agammaglobulinemia (Bruton’s disease);
- monoclonal gammopathy (not IgM);
- selective deficiency of IgM.
other causes:
- intake and dextran preparations of gold (krizanol, auranofin).
