Increased IgM:

increase in IgM titers in the blood of the sign of the acute inflammatory

  • intrauterine infection in newborns;
  • acute and chronic purulent infections, especially
    gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract;
  • collagen – rheumatoid arthritis;
  • acute and chronic liver disease (hepatitis, cirrhosis);
  • enteropathy;
  • intake chlorpromazine;
  • parasitic diseases;
  • Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia;
  • asymptomatic IgM monoclonal gammopathy;
  • presence of cold agglutinins;
  • multiple myeloma (IgM – type).

Decreased IgM:

acquired deficiency:

  • tsitostatiticheskaya and radiotherapy;
  • state after splenectomy;
  • protein loss in gastroenteropathy, burns;
  • lymphoma.

congenital deficiency:

  • agammaglobulinemia (Bruton’s disease);
  • monoclonal gammopathy (not IgM);
  • selective deficiency of IgM.

other causes:

  • intake and dextran preparations of gold (krizanol, auranofin).
